Beautiful pics of Tamara Day and Sarah Stiles feet & legs
One baby was strapped on my back while one crawled inside the playpen. I stayed up all night days over months of sanding, and taking wallpaper off, all and with just one child. Ha! The whole thing was beginning to come together but there was still a long way to go. It would take a lot of money effort as well as my favourite brands of furniture furnishings for this house. To keep in my budget I took my kids with me to look for gems hidden in estate sales. Our routine was to visit auctions and garage sales on the weekend and purchase a range of old pieces and new made. My work days were spent on the drive working on painting or sanding. The furniture looked like this... which is where I got my passion for restoration. When our house was decorated, I couldn't quit! There was an area at the local markets that I could sell my items. In the end, I had numerous pieces that I did not know what to do and outgrew the space. In my own home, I began hosting open houses where more than 1,000 people were able to come in and buy any item they wanted on the first floor over the course of a weekend. Growing Days is the result of this. Growing Days wasn't just an extremely successful company, it was it was also a loving family. In some ways, I had found the perfect equilibrium between motherhood and launching my company. Growing Days just fit. The year 2013 was the year my daughter Nora became our fourth child. This was a fantastic direction for my business however I was also in need of an escape. I took a break from creating furniture for vintage homes, and slowed down my pace to be at home to take care of the kids. At the time, it was exactly what I needed. But after a short time I began to hear my phone to ring. Calls came in asking me to help them with decorating their homes and interiors. It was mostly those who visited my home to purchase furniture. As I went along I began adding clients one by one. But it wasn't long before I had multiple clients and ran a profitable home improvement business. If you had told me that my venture would end up being the basis for a DIY Network show, I would probably have laughed. It's hilarious to look back on the idea.
