April Lockhart
April Lockhart is a born July 4 on the 4th of July, 1995. In the seventh grade, she started taking guitar lessons and piano lessons. This ignited her passion to write songs. April Lockhart composed her debut song, Different, at age 12 years old. At the age of 14, April spent lots of time writing and honing her musicianship ability. The following months, she started taking writing excursions along with her father to LA in addition to NY. The month of April also included other themes in the book, Take My Hand, for those of her peers who struggled with peer pressure, disabilities or suicide. Lockhart has her own fanbase and has a job as a lifestyle blogger with the well-known Ilia Clean Beauty brand. Lockhart was born without a left hand. It's one aspect of who she is, but it's far from the entirety of her story. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability through her Instagram page but she doesn't put it at the center of the account. What is the message? We are all more than only our physical selves. Our identities are intricate and include a myriad of dimensions. Lockhart through a recorded message from Nashville's home declares that I do not intend to allow this to define me. I am far more than just my physical body. It doesn't impact my everyday life. I go about things normally, and I've discovered the best way for me to adapt to things. But it's also a part of me so I think it's important to talk about. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart is an absolute inspiration for this aspect. Still she admits she's gone through phases with her body not being confident in wearing specific types of clothes which showed off the arms of her. She now wears what she's comfortable in and post pictures of herself in these outfits on social media with pride. Self-love she said can be described as a trip. "I doubt it's possible to be in that place," she said. This is true for everyone, no matter what their state of being. It's important to have people within your circle who understand and appreciate you. They will be able to remind you about the issues you're concerned about.
